“Superb staff. Disappointing room.”

  , Hampton
The staff at this hotel and friendly, willing and helpful. I am somewhat disabled and required assistance coming in and going out and the staff helped out cheerfully. Because I was on the main floor, the staff offered to get me some ice and deliver it. Wonderful. They all should get a raise! The room was really quite poor I'm afraid. Oh, the bed was fine but the chairs were very uncomfortable. Worse, the beverages were placed in the toilet. There is something really quite distasteful at having to produce one's drink over the toilet. A small table placed in the room would cost little to nothing and add immeasurably to the general sense of comfort. The location of my particular room beside the dumpster of the neighbours business meant a rude awakening in the morning with the banging and beeps of the truck. Quite jarring whilst one is at rest. In addition the noise in the halls was incessant and unnerving.I was gobsmacked when I eagerly made my way to breakfast only to learn that sausage and eggs are for weekend guests only and not for those who stay the rest of the week. Frankly, that's not only cheap but dumb business. Usually, a decent breakfast is the last memory of a guest upon leaving the hotel. My last memory is of a poor waffle and cup of coffee. The history of hotels begins with the provision of food and drink as well as a place for rest. It would go a long way for the hotel to think of its guests first when it comes to this.
