“Overpriced”

This is a former Holiday Inn Express that had gotten run down and bought by Days Inn. Many things in the rooms still said "Holiday Inn" such as the phones. Which had numerous "quick dial" features that did nothing. Only one of two phones worked. The system had no long distance - assuming everyone has a cell phone. The back door security lock was broken (no lock). It appeared to have been that way for some time. When I got there it had been a VERY long hard day and all I wanted to do was crash as a had a big day coming up. The AC seemed to work. But in the middle of the night I woke up in a pool of sweat. I called the front desk and they quipped about the maintenance man being being off (It WAS 1:00 am but that was not my fault). Eventually the maintenance man showed up, found a replacement AC unit, exchanged it, and finished at about 3:00 am. The AC unit did not fit properly and you could see daylight around it. In the insect filled South you do not do this. . . While the unit worked the room was dank and damp. I got almost no sleep that night.I stayed 3 more nights (location is everything and this was the location I needed - It is rural with few choices). I informed the front desk that the AC was working but still needed attention. Nothing was done in the time I was there.Overall the people were friendly and helpful. The place was generally clean. But I expect to pay much less (half what I paid) for a room with issues in a place with issues.NOTE "Altavista" is ONE word.
