“Tired Hotel”

  , Franklin
After spending a week at The Courtyard by Marriot at Virginia Beach in September, this hotel just seemed stale and tired. Our room was in the 100 hall not far from the lobby and events areas. We were disturbed by late night "party" guests well beyond 3AM. I've never stayed in a hotel where rooms were located in major foot traffic areas. The room may have been smoke-free, but the residual smoking of the other areas of your hotel left my coat smelling foul enough that a week later when I took it from my home closet, my 20yr old college daughter noticed its rankness. I never wore it anywhere but our room and through the hallways--never in the bar or event center.I thought there was at least a continental breakfast. We walked out to the lobby but there was no evidence that it existed and certainly no hotel staff interaction. Also, we did not ask for or require a handicap accessible room. The handicapp shower stall is not comfortable for a standard guest. Shower seats and handshower nozzles are not a benefit if you are not handicapped. We came to the hotel to see The Clarks in your event center and planned to stay the night more than a month in advance. But if I had it to do again, I'd try the Fairfield Inn on the other side of town.
