“Disappointing Stay”

  , Westborough
I arrived at the hotel at 0130 Wednesday morning, 12 SEP. My intention was t sleep until 0900 and then have a continental breakfast before the service was closed at 1000. Unfortunately, a hotel employee decided to use a chainsaw outside my room window to cut back a stump starting around 0820. The noise was very loud and very nerve wracking, lasting for a number of minutes. While I called the front desk to complain, it took some time for the noise to end (I presume the person finished the job prior to shutting down the equipment). Needless-to-say, I was now up at an earlier-than-planned hour due to the lack of consideration of a hotel employee. Now, why anyone working at a hotel would be using power equipment at that hour is beyond me. I would expect that the hotel would have a policy in place that no powered equipment (chainsaws, vacuum cleaners, mowing equipment, saws, etc.) would be used on hotel property prior to 1000 at the very earliest. Guests arrive at all hours of the night and are expecting a quiet environment to sleep. it would be reasonable to presume that people would be sleeping until at least the continental breakfast area was closed at 1000. I complained to the front desk about the incident as it occurred as well upon checkout and while the clerk apologized both times, no effort was made to compensate for the indiscretion. Frankly, my hotel expectations were not met.
