“I booked three rooms for two nights. The receptionist...”

I booked three rooms for two nights. The receptionist couldn't find the third reservation. Our friends who arrived very late that night had to wait over an hour for the water to get hot enough in their room to take a shower the night of arrival; and the second day was the same; waiting over half an hour for hot water. The wall paper in their room was peeling off the wall also. I am wondering - because the receptionist could not find our reservation (I had confirmation and I paid in advance for all three rooms), perhaps they gave my friends a room that was not supposed to be in use. We all had queen beds, but these didn't seem like "normal" sized queen beds. All beds would have been more comfortable if they had been true sized queens. The towels were also really old and bath towels were not large enough. We asked for more towels which we had to pick up at the front desk because there was no room service available. Only two bath towels are supplied, but because I wash my hair in the shower I always require two. We had maid service the second day of our stay and while the bed was made and towels replaced, the caffinated coffee and creamer/sugar packets were not replaced so we had to go down to the desk to ask for more. Not until staff who could understand what we wanted intervened, the "foreign" management person did not understand what we were requesting. The staff/management were nice even though they were difficult to understand and, believe it or not, they found it very difficult to understand us - we are all native born USA citizens. Why isn't it possible that management be required to speak good English as well as understand?
