“One word--Dirty”

  , Rapid City
I like the location of the hotel, but the rooms are gloomy and dirty. I was on the second floor which I had to haul all of my stuff up to because there is no elevator. I must have stayed in the previous smoking area, because the hallway smelled of old stale smoke-to the point that my asthma was acting up. The room set up was ok, but I was just amazed at how many stains there were. Stains on the light switches, blood-looking stains on the wall in the bathroom, stains on every cusion of the furniture. I moved one of the bedside tables to set my computer on and there was garbage from the previous occupant left there. In addition, there were 3 messages on the phone for the previous occupant. The microwave took twice as long to heat food. The heater--on the low setting--overheated the room, so it was either cold feet or roast in the room. The cable channels were fuzzy. Finally, it was somewhat unsettling to learn that the outside entrances into the hotel rooms are not locked at night. I went out to my car to get something at 11 o'clock at night and found that none of the doors were locked nor had a room key lock function. Kind of concerning when the hotel is located right of the interstate and the building is so big that the front lobby only faces one entrance into the parking lot. I think I would just pay out of my own pocket and stay at the Holiday Inn next time. Definately not a room worth $70+.
