“Disappointing”

This hotel is in a great location in Sturgis. It is right off the highway, close to downtown, and just down the road from Deadwood. Despite the convenience, I would happily drive an hour both ways to Rapid City than stay here again. I have stayed in several Days Inn hotels, and this was the most expensive and least value hotel I have ever encountered. The central air is broken in the hotel which prevents anyone from using the common areas during August in South Dakota. This was a loss for us, because we came to town to hang out with other Mustang enthusiasts. We got in late the first night and since the air in our room wasn't on, it was miserable in there too, and took several hours to become comfortable. The bar latch lock in our room was broken to the point it couldn't be used. Hotel management felt the need to screw the TV to the TV stand, so that tells me I probably wanted to be locking my door too. The breakfast was not fresh as most of the items available were baked goods that were left out on the counter all day in the humidity. The tongs used to pick out the doughnuts were not even cleaned or replaced from one day to the next. The juice and fruit were good though. There were dead bugs everywhere from leaving all the doors and windows open to beat the heat. The staff members were rude and some unprofessional, but I don't really blame them for being grumpy and scantily dressed given their work conditions. To make matters worse, I was locked into a three day stay due to a promotion code I used. My fiancé and I couldn't take it anymore and checked out the second day. The hotel would not accommodate us at all stating I was notified at booking that I couldn't cancel. Apparently they have to contract you into staying there because the conditions are so bad. We left anyway. I would rather pay for the room to be empty than stay at the Days Inn again.
