“Unsafe, disappointing”

  , Salem
I stayed here with my choir, and was very disappointed in this hotel. We got a good rate, but there were several problems.1. We reserved 8 rooms over a month in advance, but they were not together, and we surrounded a room that was not occupied by our group.2. Several doors were not secure. One of the rooms could be opened without the key, even when it was deadbolted, and several rooms were missed the safety latch at eye level. Or more accurately, one of the pieces (either on the doorjamb or the door itself) had been forcibly removed. I wondered if this hotel sees a great deal of police activity.3. When I insisted on a new room for the girls in the room that didn't need a key, they gave me a room where the deadbolt didn't work (it merely hit the plate instead of fitting into the slot) and where the door could be opened with a sharp blow from my shoulder, even when it was "locked." They gave me a different room on the ground floor in which the window was unlocked when I got there. Luckily it stayed locked when I locked it, but I was not overwhelmed with its safety. This is not a hotel I can recommend until these safety issues get fixed.
