“Poor quality rooms and general maintenance of facility”

  , London
In short, I only stayed here because it was the cheapest alternative. I requested a mini fridge and microwave which came free of charge. The free request was nice, I know other hotels charge upwards of $30/day for the privilege. Also, the cable service was pretty good. Lots of channels to choose from. The front desk staff was fantastic. Extremely courteous and knowledgeable. However, there were a number of issues. The automatic sliding doors leading into the front lobby were out of service. Quite annoying for a person like myself who was unpacking for a 5-night stay. The elevators were in poor condition and slow. I was on the 8th floor, which had a woefully dated decor, likely from the late-1990s to early 2000s. The room was average at first glance, but upon closer inspection, the bed was lumpy, the fan mechanism in the bathroom was inoperable, the shower head was about 8-inches too short for me (I'm 6'0") and the walls were so thin I could audibly hear the person in the next room to me on their phone.I went to get ice from the ice machine on my floor, and predictably it was out of order. So I went to the 7th, 6th and 5th floors in search of a functioning ice machine. No dice. Finally I decided to go to the 9th floor. Once the door's of the elevator opened, I realized the entire 9th floor was out of order. It was pitch black, very musty smelling and generally a nightmare for anyone familiar with slasher movies.I'm not trying to be overly critical of the facility, it's just clear to me that this location is struggling financially. As I stated from the beginning of this review, I only stayed here because it was about $30 less per day than the next closest hotel (and that's not even including parking at the competitor). So if you're looking for a cheap place to stay in North York and you don't mind a bit of a dingy atmosphere, this is your Days Inn.Cheers.
