“I don't know why this hotel is so poorly rated.”

  , Honolulu
During this trip, I had stayed at 4 different hotels, some 3-4 star, some 1 star like Day's Inn. Day's inn compared favorably to the Fremont in Vegas, and was in many ways superior to a 3.5 star hotel (Doubletree Inn in Pittsburgh). I also stayed in a Motel 6, which was not even close to the quality of the Day's Inn. Free parking, shuttle and coffee > DoubletreeCleanliness, shuttle, room climate control, and room quality > Motel 6Microwave availability and shuttle > FremontOf the 6 hotels I have stayed at so far this trip, Days Inn would be close to #1 (probably the only thing missing is a free room refrigerator.) On the other hand:Tv quality < Fremont, Doubletree. In this day and age, not having a digital LCD is unexplicable. Also, several channels were hard to view and I was told this was normal for the whole hotel. Toilet running: I also had this problem at Motel 6.Smoking room smell: noticeable, but not as bad as Motel 6. The room ventilation at the Fremont was the best I've seen so far.Bathtub condition: I think there used to be some sort of sticker on the bathtub floor, but the glue was not completely cleaned. The fixtures were like 1" out of the wall as well.Distance: It took about an hour to get to DC, which is why I was staying there. The free shuttle to the station helped, but I still paid about $9 a day for rail fees to/from DC.Wifi: the connection to my room sucked, but I was told by other guests it was fine to theirs. If I needed it, I had to go to the lobby.Summary: A little pricey for a 1-2 star hotel ($50/day) but much better than others.
