“F-1 Austin 2012”

Surly manager. We do not smoke and had to initial a notice of a $150 dollar cleaning up-charge if smoke was smelled in the room. When I ask him who determined that , he replied that it was his decision. When I ask him what was to prevent him from simply adding the up-charge after we left he got all huffy and indignant. This is a perfect set up for a scam since it would only be my word against his and by the time the up-charge was discovered, we would be over 1,000 miles away. In the morning when we checked out, I went to the office to have him come and smell the room for smoke, but there he was not available. He wasn't willing to take my word that we don't smoke, why should I take his word that he wouldn't add the up-charge?
