“Absolutely Unacceptable”

I've been in the military for 30 years and have been in deplorable conditions yet I will NEVER set foot in this hotel again. This hotel was completely unacceptable. As I checked in, I noticed that there was a musty smell in the lobby and the front desk clerk acknowledged it as well. We received our keys, went to our room, and the smell of cigarette smoke was utterly stifling -- even though our reservation clearly said NO SMOKING. The front desk clerk kindly reassigned us to another room and the smell was so bad that he had to bring us two kinds of Air Freshener (we used the disinfectant to kill germs) so we could get rid of the smell. Later, as I ironed my clothes, the iron shut off and wouldn't come back on. I called the front desk clerk and he said he would have Maintenance bring me another iron. 30 minutes later, I got tired of waiting, and went to the lobby myself only to find him watching TV. I asked him for another iron and we got one from another hotel room. The next morning, as I was attempting to find a station on our clock-radio, I noticed that the radio tuning wouldn't work. I took it to the front desk, and the clerk (different one) assured me that maintenance would bring me another one. I believed her because they had all day Saturday to do it. Late that night, when we returned, no clock radio. On the morning we had the continental breakfast, the fruit was old, and the waffles were stale. This hotel is badly in need of refurbishment. The air conditioner was covered in rust and rattled both nights as we tried to sleep. There was a crack in the bathtub so the water leaked out the bottom. There was mildew around the corners of the floor. I would not pay my worst enemy to stay here.
