“Should have spent a little more money”

I chose this particular Days Inn because it was a national brand and the location was good for us. The price was average for where I was looking, but after the fact, I wish I had spent $20 more for a better stay elsewhere. While the room was clean and comfortable, we were awoken abruptly by an alarm apparently set by a previous guest at a way too early hour after our night out. I really woudl expect housekeeping to check that and make sure the alarm is off. We fooled with it for several minutes later that morning and never could figure out if it was on/off or what time it was set for. Heading down for breakfast at 9:30, we found a sparse selection of cereals and pastries and a dry/empty/clean chafing dish that didn't appear to have had any hot food in it that morning. On checkout, I was asked how our stay was, and I mentioned both of these issues. The desk clerk abruptly apologized for the alarm and argued with me about the breakfast selection. For $74plus tax, next time I will spend a bit more and upgrade to a better brand.
