“It had a bed, but given the condidtion of the room I was almost afraid to use it.”

When you first check into a hotel room, the first thing that you notice is the smell, even before your eyes take in the layout. This room didn't smell clean. In fact even though it was clearly marked as non-smoking, it was obvious that people had smoked in there fairly recently. The next thing you notice is does everything appear to be in good order. In this case, everything looked fine, until I opened the mini fridge and discovered a half empty, 1/2 gallon of milk, and leftover food left behind by some previous occupant. Unacceptable. I took the items, and dropped them on the front desk in disgust, and told the kid att he counter that they were in my room when i checked in, and left before I exploded at him. His only reply was "oh."The toilet paper roll was not new when I arrived, and while this isn't a big deal, the fact that that when it was used up during my stay, the staff didn't even bother to put the new one on the holder. (I purposely left it off to see what they would do) This stuff is Hotel management 101. It is obvious that the management either has no idea what housekeeping is doing, or they are actively telling them to skimp on services to save money. Either way, it's unacceptable. Bottom line, if this was my first ever trip to a Days Inn hotel, I would never patronize the chain again. As it is, this one experience has me questioning whether or not to let my previous good stays outweigh the negative of this one. Thank God I didn't have anyone else with me, I would have been horrified to bring my kids, or a special guest to a room like that.
