“Not going back here!”

There were a number of problems with my room: 1. Light fixture missing from bathroom. Exposed wires hanging down from where fixture was removed. Not safe. Electrical servicing should have been finished prior to using the room. The hotel was not very busy (less than 50% occupancy), so there should have been other rooms that could have been used instead. 2. Bathroom had a bad odor, similar to a mold smell, but I could not determine where exactly the odor was coming from. The floor tile appeared to be dirty, so possibly something was spilled on the floor. Proper housekeeping would have resolved this issue. 3. Toilet was dirty. Stains on the inside of the bowl. Obviously was not cleaned recently. Cleaning needed. 4. Bobby pins were stuck into the carpet in several places, and I caught my toe on one of them walking barefoot in the room. Housekeeping needed. 5. Carpet was dirty, did not appear to have been vacuumed recently. Floor cleaning needed. 6. Toilet kept running, and made a loud noise every few minutes to refill the tank with water. This was annoying to listen to. I checked the rubber parts in the tank, and they appeared old and in need of servicing. Maintenance should routinely check for these types of issues. 7. Room A/C unit did not have air deflector, so air was blowing directly on the bed. This made the temperature always too hot or too cold. Was not comfortable. An inexpensive plastic air deflector similar to what other hotels routinely use would solve this issue. 8. Local area restaurant hours of operation provided in hotel room is inaccurate. The restaurant I chose was listed as being open until 9, but when I arrived at the restaurant I was told that they close at 7. I then had to find somewhere else to eat. Management should routinely review the accuracy of information provided for guests who do not know the area and might trust the accuracy of this information during their stay, especially when cell phone service was unavailable. 9. There was food left in the freezer compartment of the fridge, which I had to dispose of myself. Housekeeping needed. 10. Late checkout fees not clearly explained: After check in, I called the front desk to ask about late check for Sunday morning. I was told I could checkout between 12 and 1. On Sunday when I turned in my key at 12:45, I was then told that I owed an additional $5.00 for late checkout. This fee was never discussed previously. I felt tricked. Not worth $90/day!
