“Better than nothing”

First, our door keys didn't work. I walked back and got new ones. We weren't provided a password for the wifi internet. A giant dead roach was lying on the carpet just inside the doorway. While I was taking a shower, we lost power to 90% of the room, and it didn't come back on by itself. I had to get out and call the front desk, who was apparently familiar with the problem and said they'd get it back on. The A/C would not work unless it was turned down to 65. So you had to either be hot or cold. No in-between. The staff didn't speak good English so when they asked if we were leaving after the first day of our two day visit, they couldn't understand that we intended to stay for both days of our two day visit. Finally, it got through, so they asked if we wanted room service - while we're still in the room apparently. I declined, but then didn't think to ask for new towels for the next day, and they didn't think to offer them.Overall, if there's nothing available when you need to stay in the area, this will beat sleeping in your car - but not by a heck of a lot. I'd recommend looking elsewhere. I only booked this place because I called the Windham 800 number and asked for a property with smoking rooms. It's really hard to find out if motels have smoking rooms or not. They only tell you that they have non-smoking rooms, which goes without saying. So instead of calling motel after motel, I went with the corporate customer service line. Frustrating experience from beginning to end.
