“Decent hotel, could be better”

  , Oxdrift
Stayed here on a family trip. Able to get a lower rate from talking on phone to manager. Prices still seemed high, but no worse than the rest of the city. Fitness room being "renovated" so not able to be used, no mention of this on website or any travel sites when checking. Room was decent sized and nicely furnished. Bed was about average for comfort. Room was a bit better than average for quietness, except when someone turned on the water in an adjoining room. Breakfast area was small and cramped, had to jostle around others to get to anything. Had a waffle maker, but selection of the other items was limited, and breakfast only until 10, even on weekends. Wanted to make a waffle shortly after 10 and was told flatly no by woman taking breakfast items away. Don't even keep coffee available, which most other hotels seem to these days. Good thing it was next to a Tim Horton's! Pool area was decent and nice to have salt water pool, but hot tub was HEAVILY chlorinated. So much so that if you tried to take in a deep breathe when near it, you would choke and cough. Had snow both mornings, and plow trucks were there early enough in the morning to clear the parking lot, but no one shoveled around doors besides the lobby. Overall was about average, would probably stay there again, but only because they have a 2 room suite and a pool for the kids.
