“The 'Pits' in St Louis”

  , Rochester
1. When we checked in, we were told that only smoking rooms were available. I specifically requested 'non-smoking'. Then they found us 2 rooms on the 1st floor right next to the Lobby. We could see these rooms were going to be extremely noisy, so we said we would wait for rooms on a higher floor. Finally got rooms on the 3rd floor.2. We checked in on Saturday, and got no housekeeping service on Sunday. On Monday, I specifically asked that they clean our rooms -- didn't happen. So we did not get fresh towels or our beds made until Tuesday. 3. This hotel is classified as 'Downtown St Louis'. It is about 1-1/2 miles from downtown -- and there is a freeway between the hotel and downtown -- so you could never walk. Also this hotel is in the middle of an area of large 'empty' warehouses. There is NOTHING around. It is scary to even go outside the hotel. This hotel must have been built 50 years ago when there were actually businesses around there -- now it is just a bunch of abandoned warehouses.4. The carpet in this place was so gross that I kept my shoes on at all times.5. The walls are so thin that I could hear everything outside the room. On the first night, someone was out in the hall knocking on a door and asking to be let it -- and I could hear every word. Another morning an clock alarm went off -- and just kept ringing, ringing, ringing. I finally called the Front Desk and told them to come up and find where this alarm was. Obviously, some individual had checked out, but had set the alarm to come on every day. By the time they got the alarm shut off, I could not go back to sleepGood points about the hotel. --The bed was okay--Free Internet--Free parking--Breakfast was okay. In the 4 days we stayed there we only ate it once. Then preferred to go out and buy a good breakfast.Would I ever stay there again? NOT ON YOUR LIFE!!!!
