“Bedbugs, skeptical and unhelpful managers, no sleep ON MY HONEYMOON”

  , Los Lunas
My husband and I checked in on October 12th . Everything was fine. I woke up in the middle of the night (~2-3am), but I am a light sleeper, and this was a new environment, so I thought little of it. I fell back asleep and awoke the following morning with bites all over myself. Now, initially I did not want to jump to conclusions. After all, my husband, who also had bites all over, and I had an outdoor ceremony near a lake. I thought these bites were from mosquitoes. We go about our day on Saturday, having to stop at the local Target to get hydrocortisone cream because the bites were extremely painful, not to mention itchy. We return back to the hotel, and I do a little research on my laptop. Now, again, I want to be 100% sure before I complain to management, because this is a serious accusation. My husband and I search the room and we don't find anything, so we assume that it must be mosquitoes. I wake up in the middle of the night again. Sunday morning arrives and there are more bites. I call up the rest of our wedding party and ask if they have any bites, because at this point I'm afraid to fall asleep in the hotel room and wanted to put the whole business to rest. My husband and I were the only ones who ever received any bites. We go back to the hotel, search again, and again. I don't really know what to look for, neither does he. We don't find anything obvious or conspicuous, and we rationalize that its just one more night, what harm could it do. I wake up again in the middle of the night, and I feel a sharp pain on the bottom of my foot. I wake up my husband, we flip on the lights, we don't see anything immediately. I'm really unnerved at this point and smoke a cigarette, meanwhile my husband sees a bedbug on my pillow. We capture the insect on the adhesive portion of a band-aid and collect our things. We go into the lobby and speak with the night manager and show him the insect. I explain the entire situation to him, exactly as I have here. He refunds us Sunday night, but says we must speak with the General Manager for the other nights, then he blows us off. He can't offer us another room, he says, and he was generally kind of unhelpful. On Monday, I call the GM and he seems concerned at first, then he says he'll call me back and kind of brushes me off. He has never called back. This ruined my honeymoon. This caused infection, that I had to go the doctor for and get medicine for. I had to throw away my luggage and clothes. Terrible experience.
