“Convenient to Wmsburg tourism, but not much else”

  , Charlottesville
Recommended by organizers of a conference at College of Wm & Mary, who'd negotiated a group discount, this Days Inn offered a very low price, and it is very convenient to the college, allowing us to commute to & from our conference on foot. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. BUT, our designated non-smoking room had evidently had a prior life as a smoking room: it stank of old tobacco smoke. And there was virtually no fresh air in the room because no openable window, and the main ventilation system for the room only worked to effect a change of temperature, once every hour or so, and then was noisy. We left the bathroom fan on all night for air flow, with the bathroom door open to the bedroom, but that also meant that we slept in the light from the bathroom, which was connected to the bathroom fan. The housekeeper never came to the room during our 2-night stay.
