“Not the best stay I've had here...”

I usually stay at this hotel when in Sudbury. They did renos recently and I had previously had a great stay in a 6th floor room. During this trip I had a room on the 5th floor which was dirty and dingy, even though it had supposedly been redone. It did have newer bedding. The room smelled of cigarettes although this is supposed to be a non-smoking hotel. I was given another room after being given a little attitude from the front desk clerk for having the nerve to ask for a switch. But my new room wasn't much better; it smelled like vomit. But after the experience I had just had at the front desk I didn't bother to go back and say anything. Luckily I had candles in my bag. Trim was falling off the wall and dirt and cobwebs had collected in the gaps. The closet door looked as though someone had taken their fury out on it. This hotel doesn't have fridges and microwaves in every room. With the amount of sports teams staying in hotels these days, it should be a staple. Even the Motel 6 I stayed in had microwaves and fridges. I stay in hotels about every other weekend and this is one of the few hotels that doesn't have these in every room. Most rooms DO have a fridge though.One big annoyance of mine is that this hotel hates to give you your points if you have a Wyndham card. You have to book directly from them and you have to pay full price to get your points. I don't find they give much of a deal with group bookings, so I feel like I should get my points. And if I book off a third party site, well just forget about getting points. Other hotels I've stayed in are more than happy to give me my points regardless. So while I would probably stay here again, as this was only one less than stellar experience I've had at this hotel, I know that when I head to Sudbury next I will be staying at a different hotel that wants to give me my points and an easy stay. I've already booked somewhere else and the Days Inn Sudbury has disappointed a guest who has been staying in this hotel for many years.
